Here are a couple of really quick animation tests I did a few months ago.
Things have been super busy lately so I haven’t posted as much. That’s seems to happen often. I don’t see an end to the craziness any time soon though…
Enjoy!

I took a little time to doodle today and figured I would doodle Kuta from Cheeks’ Bastions 7. Lots of fun.

Hope everyone is well!
So I’m back to my digital doodles. Got a new Wacom tablet and… is nice… I like. Some old Borat references.
In other news, I logged my first week at Cat Daddy. Great people, great work. I think it’s going to be a great fit. And something else great.

Hope everyone is well and I’ll be posting my AM story pitch right here for your viewing pleasure… just need to record it.
I’ve had some friends mention our new baby Baxter so I thought I’d post a vid. He’s growing like a weed. 5 months old already!
This is the latest iteration. Made some changes to shot 4 and added facial animation.
This is the last week. I’ve got my work cut out for me, but I’m excited to put this one in the books.
Small changes here and there. I still have a lot of work to do on shot 4, but I think I’m in good shape to finish up this week.
Did this due to the imagination of my friend Pat Connole.
Also, I’m starting on the facial animation on my current shot.
Did a quick test for no particular reason while listening to my AM crit.
Oh, and here is a progress blast on my new shot. Still early… I’ve got a few more weeks to put into it, but here it is.

I don’t get a lot of time to draw at work these days. It’s really a drag. However, I have had some time to do a couple doodles recently. Nothing spectacular, but doodles nonetheless. All analog of course, seeing as how I don’t have access to… anything… with an artistic bent. I pretty much just have my pencils a Bic ballpoint and a sharpie. I guess that’s all you need, huh?
Enjoy

So here is my working file so far. I have one more week to complete it.
Can’t drive so I’ll animate.
Slooooow going on the drawings now that I’m on phones all day long, but this is what I’ve got.

Some gameplay footage at the end that was animated by yours truly… it’s hard to see though. It’s cool nonetheless.
The drawings are slowing down now that I’m actually taking calls all day long. Here are a couple more.
Enjoy!

Just a couple more before the weekend. I think I have a few more requested and maybe some more after that.
Enjoy

Just a few more doodles. I’ve got a ton more to do so if you’re interested keep your eyes peeled.
Enjoy!

So I haven’t been working in animation for about 5 months now, but I have been able to draw. I started doodling and then started taking requests. Now I’ve got quite an undertaking ahead of me. Here are a few that I’ve done so far. Everyone has taken to hanging them on their monitors. It’s been fun drawing so much. I think I’ve drawn more outside of the animation industry than in it. Hope you enjoy.
AM starts up again next week. I’m stoked!
DeMercer out.

I just wanted to write something that said how much I’m going to miss Carlos Meglia and his artwork. He’s honestly one of the earliest influences on me as far as actually drawing. I was obviously inspired by art before I was introduced to Meglia’s work, but it wasn’t until I picked up a 5 issue mini-series he did in 2001 called Star Wars: Underworld that I actually took out my pencil and paper and drew with any real seriousness. To this day he’s the one artist I go back to and look at when I’m feeling out of touch with not just my ability to draw, but creativity in General.
The last thing I read of his was Superman: Infinite City and I really felt like he was on to something. I’d loved Superman/Tarzan, but his work in Infinite City was just so beautiful and not seeing anymore of that, not seeing what he might have done years down the road is honestly really hard for me to swallow. I don’t have a ton of his stuff, but what I do have is dog-eared and well loved. I’m really going to miss seeing his art; Being surprised when I see another book that he’d done. That was the funny thing. I never knew what the hell he was working on until I accidentally stumbled upon it a while after it had been out.
Anyways, if you’re a fan of Carlos Meglia it’s a sad time and if you’ve never heard of him run, don’t walk, to your local book/comicbook shop and ask for some of his stuff. You won’t be sorry. If you actually knew him or were family of his, my heart goes out to you. I’m sure we’ll miss him for different reasons, but we’ll miss him none the less.
Rest in peace Carlos.
