My favorite artist at the moment!

28 10 2006

Aurélie Blard-Quintard is AMAZING! Sometimes I look at the drawings and almost shed a tear. Please go check out this blog! There have only been what? 100 hits on this blog… most of them probably me. BUT if you stumble across it my stuff isn’t what you want to see. What you want to see is HERE

Thanks for stopping by ;)

Quick and dirty

27 10 2006

That’s how I put this doodle page together. Hopefully it still reads. I just took quick scans, cut ‘em up, threw ‘em in PS and here you go… scrambled eggs.

These are doodles from work. Some were from lunch time, others were from moments of “oh my gosh I have to do something else other than watch as my hard drive dies a slow painful death.” Yeah, my hard drive failed me. It’s funny, you might have thought my heart failed me. I’m still hoping to recover some needed files, but other than that the awesome IT guys at Amaze got the hook up (holla)!

Things are going well. I’m adjusting to working life. It’s great. I can’t wait until I’m allowed to say what I’m working on. Until that time you guys have to keep guessing… …. … or completely not caring. Either one.

Thanks for checking in on me! Enjoy.

Notice the John Nevarez originals on the wall behind me. Yeah, I like to keep them around for inspiration. Thanks John!

Here is a digital doodle. Never used a tablet before. They aren’t easy to get used to. At least not for me.

Enjoy,

Dennis

Jeff Pidgeon Interview!

So I’m a huge fan of Jeff Pidgeon’s blog (check the blogroll on the right). I was tooting around and found this great interview with Jeff. Check it out!

Quick scans!

14 10 2006

Here are some doodles I did at Flying Lab. Sometimes I’m a little uninspired so I pick up my pencil and hit the printer paper! I have felt for the past week or so that I could draw well (some may say Ican’t ever draw well!). But the red ones were lead-ins to the blue ones. I was pretty happy with the blue ones. I just have to keep going! Please enjoy.

icky but leading to better ones!

I also made a quick banner if anyone is reading this and wants to link me. It feels ridiculous typing this, but I did it.

I got a job!

13 10 2006

amazewhitelogo.jpg

Well, it seems I’ve reached a new point in my life. Starting Wednesday I’ll be animating for Amaze Entertainment. I’m super excited! I’ll get to work with some friends of mine and get to know some really nice people.

I have to thank Flying Lab Software for giving me the chance to intern there! It has been great. I’ve had the chance to work with some great people there.

So I’ll be taking down the Pirates tab seeing as how I won’t be working on the game anymore. It’s sad because it’s been fun, but I’m stoked about the project I’ll be working on at Amaze!

So here’s to getting the chance to do what you love!

Panel One

This is the first panel of a comic I’m working on. It’s obviously unfinished, but I thought I’d post an early version. Please let me know what you think!

***Actually, here’s the full page, unfinished. Enjoy!

Bob the Builder ramblings

11 10 2006

bobwp4_1024×768.jpg

So I usually don’t get up early enough to watch Bob the Builder, but Eliot was especially energetic this morning and didn’t go back to sleep after his early morning bottle. At first I figured BtB would be the regular limited kids animation. Much to my surprise the animation was exellent! I don’t know much about stop-mo, but what I saw had some appealing characters, well thought out acting moments and motion that seemed to keep the 12-principles in mind. Not everything was great, but for the most part I was pretty darn impressed. Now I’m on a hunt for Bob the Builder animations online. If you know of any please let me in on the secret as I haven’t been able to find any.

Junka lunka!

10 10 2006

Sorry for the lack of personal content. I’ve got so many pages of sketches to scan it’s a bit overwhelming! I’ll scan ‘em and post ‘em when I get the energy. I’ve also had a lack of animation postings latley. This is mostly due to the fact that the animations I’m doing are for Pirates of the Burning Sea, and I’m not sure I can post them. Once I find out if I can, I will. Check the tabs soon for a pirates tab! I’ll post everything I’m allowed to.

I will be posting school assignments soon. It’s week two so there isn’t much to speak of yet. Until then, here are some unused concepts I did a while ago for a company that shall remain nameless.

Enjoy!

I can’t say enough that I love this show to death! Enjoy…

Slow Motion

Here are some pretty cool videos of various objects being shot, hit or generally greatly affected by an outside source. I don’t know why this is so fascinating, but it is.

Talk about a bouncing ball!

Some of the best animation destinations online!

4 10 2006

So I’ve been fortunate enough to find some really great people online. Most people have probably stopped by, but if you’re like me you have the blogs you visit everyday or at least a few times a week. Here are some links to some of the best and nicest people on the web. Be sure to check out what they have to say!

Jeff Pidgeon has some great commentary and is always on top of interesting news stories. He is an awesome artist and has some of the coolest toys ever. He just might take over the world if he’s not careful. Check out his blog here:

http://pidgeonblog.typepad.com/pidgeonblog/

John Nevarez has so many readers it’s amazing! Even more amazing is the art posted and the sites he scours and posts for all of us to see. He’s a super-nice guy to boot! You can see his stuff here:

http://john-nevarez.blogspot.com/

Here is the emodiment of “great guy”. If you don’t know Keith Lango it’s time to jump out from under your rock. Just go here to learn all about animation:

And finally, Victor Navone is another great web instructor. He has some wonderful tutorials on his site and is always posting super cool art and Pixar stuff. See it (if you haven’t already) here:

http://www.navone.org/blogger/

I’ll be posting animation as I get it done. Some things to look out for in the next few months: Animations from the game I’m working on, 3D animation assignments from my character animation class and… wait for it… 2D animation! I’m so stoked about the 2D stuff. It’s been a while, but is going to be super fun!

If you love the BBC version of The Office check this out!

Thanks for stopping by!
