Changed my mind…

fiat128.jpg

I think I’d rather get a 128. I’ve long been a fan of rally cars and the 128 has more of a racing history than the 500. I’ve been looking around and have found a few more 128’s than 500’s.

Lets get a CAR!

***UPDATE***

Oh yeah, forgot to post a cool 128 video:

Sorry, no subtitles, but we’re not watching it for the words ;)

Fiat 500

29 07 2007

So I am hurling myself into the Fiat market. It all started with CARS. Luigi is my favorite character. From there I started researching the little Fiats. History, culture, specifications and finally (and most importantly) price. While it IS hard finding one around here, I’ve decided that I’m not opposed to driving (a reasonable distance) to get one. It’d be a fun road trip. Right now I’m driving a small Hyundai Accent. I know the 500 is substantially smaller, but it’s not like I’m going from a Caddy or a big truck to a small car. Also the prices I’ve seen are pretty easy to swallow. All in all I think it’d be a really fun car to toot around in!

Here is a really cool clip featuring a heavily modified Fiat 500:

Anyways, if you hear of one for sale somewhere on the west coast drop me a line. Or if you see any cool pics or videos send me the link. Awesome!

Still more Cars

28 07 2007

(Row 1: Red, Mater, Lightning, Sally, Doc, Sherrif Row 2: Ramone, Flo, Luigi, Stanley, Guido Lizzie, Fillmore, Sarge Row 3: Ramone, Cruisin’ McQueen, Tractor, Radiator Springs McQueen)

Here’s the latest picture… they change so quickly. Some great new finds like:

Fillmore
Sarge
Ferrari Luigi
Ferrari Guido

I’m SUPER excited about Luigi and Guido. They were my favorite characters so it’s nice to add them to the collection. Eliot loves them as well. He can even name a bunch of them. Here are some Eliot pronunciations of Cars characters:

Dah (Doc)
Mamone (Ramone)
Sah-ee (Sally)

He also says Red, but he actually says it quite clearly.

I’ve got some more sketches that need to be scanned. Hopefully I’ll do that on Monday.

Enjoy!

Last Comic Standing is a Joke…

25 07 2007

… and it’s not funny.

Sean Rouse was one of the funniest comics there and should have DEFINITELY beaten out at LEAST three of tonights finalists. So dumb!

Here’s a link to his Myspace page. Not much there… or anywhere for that matter. Too bad because I really enjoyed watching him.

Bleh, TV…

Thoughts on Ratatouille

23 07 2007

So I finally saw Ratatouille and I must say that I was disappointed. The movie was more than amazing… there was nothing disappointing about that. Walking back to my car I was disappointed in some of the negative criticism it has received and whom the criticism was coming from. The only thing that made hesitate for a moment was about 30 minutes into the movie I realized I had another hour and a half with the kids in theater. They were cute for about five minutes ;)

I’ve heard complaints about the movie being too long, pacing issues, problems with the main characters and I’ve got to say I don’t agree with any of them. Maybe a very minor pacing thing that came up for me only momentarily until I was sucked back into the world of Ratatouille.

I think a lot of the criticism is misplaced and unfounded. I found the same thing when cars came out. Negativity around issues that were only issues because people refused to put aside preconceived notions and personal feelings (mostly about rednecks and NASCAR) and just watch the freakin’ movie. It’s a lot like those people who want to be hypnotized and are poor sports about it the whole time and when they end up not getting hypnotized become even poorer sports.

What’s worse is the negativity coming from artists. That to me is ridiculous, but I’m not going to get into that right now.

Suffice to say that Ratatouille is a beautiful, funny, wonderful experience. IF someone actually reads this and hasn’t seen it, believe me it’s worth seeing. Probably twice. I’m going again this week with the art team from work.

New shop in the “store” tab or quick link in the sidebar… yeah, it’s the boxer.

Cars

17 07 2007

So here’s the collection so far. I’m hoping to get Luigi and Guido next, but they’ve been a little hard to find. I’d really love to find Ferrari Luigi and Guido. That was one of my favorite parts of the movie. Fillmore and Sarge have also been hard to find. I don’t think I’ve ever seen either. Jeff Pidgeon had a great link in one of his recent posts. Check it out!

I really like Lizzy. The matte finish is really appealing. Red is also really nice because of how chunky he is. They are all solid feeling and really well executed. If you enjoyed Cars, go pick some up!

New look and a store!

16 07 2007

hbbutton.jpg

So I’ve changed the look so I could have tabbed pages. There used to only be an “about me” page, but now there’s a STORE page. I’ve never used Cafe Press before, but I thought it might be fun. So take a look. It’s a bit sparse right now, but I hope to add more stuff as time goes on.

If you’ve got an alternative to Cafe Press or something that is just downright better, please leave a comment and let me know!

I’ve also turned the music on manual so be sure to press play if you’re gonna stay a while ;) It’s in the side bar at the bottom. Ambiance.

Awesomeness!

Thoughts on The Sword In The Stone

12 07 2007

I watched this movie again tonight. It’s weird, I know that this is a good movie. I have known this, but man, this is a good movie! The character animation is so good that it literally makes me want to cry. Absolutely astounding. The character designs are so very appealing. Merlin is… just… GREAT! Oh man, this is horrible. I have no words.

I love how concise and endearing the story is. So warm and friendly you just want to crawl right in and experience it with the characters. I think that’s what I really love about Sword. It’s not so much storytelling as it is story… happening. It’s a very subtle difference. I know there’s a narrator and all, but I really feel like this is happening. Not just to them, but to me too. I’m less of an audience member and more of a participant. Maybe that IS storytelling. I don’t know, but this movie is unreal!

If it’s been a while since you’ve seen it, watch it. If you’ve never seen it… WATCH IT!!!

By the by, I don’t have these figurines, but I sure wish I did!

C-pen/RPB

4 07 2007

This is my new blade. I’ve done something highly unusual. I’ve switched from playing shakehand (the way most people naturally pick up a racket) to playing Chinese Penhold. Probably wouldn’t be advised by anyone, but that’s me… I make sure to find the path of MOST resistance. I just feel like C-pen comes naturally and now with the emergence of the Reverse Penhold Backhand (using both sides of the blade (most penholders will use one side for forehand and backhand shots)) I have no reason to stay with shakehand. This is by no means an earth-shattering racket. Pretty mid level, but it’s a great chance for me to really explore my new game until it becomes a necessity to get a better blade.

Here’s the big plug:
